FAQ Silence
What are the benefits of the Silence electric scooters?
The Silence scooters are quiet, comfortable, ergonomic, non-polluting and nearly maintenance-free. They accelerate faster than a 125cc combustion scooter, but without any noise, emissions or vibrations. All of this makes them more stable to ride and saves up to 85% compared to a combustion engine.
You can ride a Silence scooter on any type of road and, depending on the battery charge, it will have more or less range.
What type of licence do I need for an S01?
The S01 is equivalent to a 125cc class scooter, which means you need one of the following licences:
- A1 (Scooter under 11kw)* Only for moped version 49cc, limited to 50 km/h.
- A2 (11kw to 35kw scooter)
- B (3-years experience driving a scooter up to 11kw)
How much can I save with a Silence electric scooter?
A Silence electric scooter only runs on electricity and needs less maintenance in terms of tyres and brakes, so the total savings can be roughly €225 a year for each 5,000 km.
For each 100 km travelled, the scooter uses roughly 5.84Kw. Considering that the average Kw price at trough times is €0.12, a Silence scooter will cost €0.70 per 100 km travelled. A combustion-engine scooter with the same characteristics, on the other hand, uses 4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, with petrol at €1.45 on average, you would spend €5.80 per 100 km.
What functions come standard on the S01?
The S01 is designed with superior features for better riding than a combustion-engine scooter, with a homologated range of 115 km and acceleration of 0 to 50 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The first 500 units come standard with SIM-app smartphone connectivity for 3 years, free of charge, with geolocation functions, remote ignition and status updates; 3-year warranty and maintenance. The S01 also has three driving modes plus reverse gear, all LED lamps and attractive extras like the special marking of the limited edition first 500 units, third-party insurance for the first year, plus a Silence t-shirt and helmet.
What type of batteries are available? What type of range do they have?
The S01 model has a removable trolley-style Power Battery Pack with 5kWh, for an average range of 100 km.
How long does it take to charge a battery?
In general, a full charge from 0 to 100% takes approximately 6 hours.
However, we don’t recommend draining the battery completely. It’s always better to charge as you go so you don’t run out of power. This also means it charges faster and extends the battery life.
Important: the battery must be charged at least once a month or the warranty will be voided.
How do you charge the battery?
The S01 Silence has a removable trolley-style battery system, so users can move it comfortably and charge it anywhere there is a conventional power point, without a special plug.
You can also charge the battery in the scooter by connecting it to any conventional power point with the SCHUKO cable.
How long does a battery last?
The Silence batteries we have developed are still above 97% capacity with 1,000 charge cycles.
Created in our own factory, they have better guarantees and safety. They are manufactured to European quality standards and if there is any problem, they can be replaced or repaired right away.
Where can I take my scooter if I have a problem?
Silence is expanding its distribution network in Spain, where we already have official repair and post-sales service in cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. Check our points-of-sale here.
Do the Silence S01 scooters have a warranty?
The warranty on the scooter will be 2 years and on the battery, 3 years.
Important: the battery must be charged at least once a month or the warranty will be voided.
